Lahore: The National Party (NP) Punjab on Tuesday criticized Pakistan Muslim League (N) for victimizing party workers on the eve of local body elections. The Punjab government is pushing its political opponents to the wall, said Ayub Malik, President NP Punjab.
He said that provincial government was facing difficult administrative and political issues because of its own ‘bad’ governance but instead taking corrective measures and reforms, the government was engaged in political oppression.
Ayub Malik said that a fake FIR has been registered against NP Narowal President Dr Ejaz with the allegation that he has snatched a valet of a lady. Nobody is allowed to meet. Dr Ejaz, even the lawyer which is violation of the basic human rights. He said that a few days ago police tortured Dr Ejaz which resulted in demotion of police officers involved after inquiry by the top police officials.
The police officers who got demoted used their cronies to register a fake case and Dr Ejaz for snatching handbag of a women last month and now is being tortured in police custody. He said that police is already threatening NP office bearers in Sialkot and a case of anti-terrorism has been registered against Malik Nazir, President NP Khushab. NP Punjab condemn this political victimisation by PML-N led government on the eve of local body elections and warned that the situation could result in a massive protest.
