Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has taken strict notice of the incident of stuck up of hundreds of tourists in cable car due to fault in generator at Patriata and sought a report from the administration and Provincial Tourism Department. He directed that strict action should be taken against the persons responsible of negligence.
The Chief Minister has expressed strong indignation over stoppage of cable car due to fault in generator and reprimanded concerned officials on the inconveniences faced by the tourists. He has ordered an inquiry into the incident. On the direction of the Chief Minister, an inquiry team has left for Patriata.
At least 100 tourists were left hanging in midair for around two hours in a cable car in Patriata, Murree on Wednesday evening.Electricity supply to the cable car system had been suspended while backup generators had also failed.
Supply to the system was restored after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also took notice of the incident.
The PM expressed annoyance over the fault and admonished the concerned authorities, seeking a report on the incident.He questioned why there was no alternate arrangement and if there was an alternate generator then why it was not functioning.
