Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that independence is the greatest blessing of Almighty Allah, ask its worth from Muslims of India and occupied Kashmir who are suffering poverty, unemployment and insecurity, entire nation should unitedly protect this blessing and pay homage to martyrs of Pakistan Movement and officers and jawans of the Pak Army who have sacrificed their today for our tomorrow in the making of this country and defending it on internal and external fronts and today we are free.
He said this while addressing enthusiastic gathering which kept chanting loud slogans in support of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam, PML, Ch Shujat Hussain, Ch Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi after hoisting the national flag atop Muslim League House here on the Independence Day. MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema, Ch Zaheeruddin Khan, MPAs Aamir Sultan Cheema and Khadeeja Farooqi and other Muslim League leaders were also present.
Responding to questions from the media Ch Parvez Elahi agreed that by breaking away opposition parties men PTI is doing the govt job and irrespective of there being no announcement about date of general election or local bodies polls, unilateral promises about tickets are being made to enroll them and busy in “lota saazi” everywhere like N-League. He said weakening of opposition parties tantamount to strengthening the govt hands.
Terming Kasur tragedy as the worst example of bad governance, he said this is the result of weakening the police and administration and using them for own personal interests. He said like Model Town tragedy there will be no outcome of joint investigation.
Ch Parvez Elahi further said in his address that we, all our politics, business, offices, and employment everything is because Pakistan. Muslims are even today second class citizens in India, he added.
He said the Quaid-i-Azam wanted to transform Pakistan into a welfare state, it is a matter of great pride for us that only our party during its tenure took revolutionary steps towards this destination like provision of free education, text books and medicines, establishing Rescue-1122 free ambulance service, provided electricity to the farmers at half the cost, started crops insurance, set up such institutions for handicapped children and also for those who had nobody to care about them where they were given free education, treatment and lodging. He said anyone studying 68 years history of Pakistan impartially will surely admit that it was only Muslim League which had made headway towards transforming Pakistan into a welfare state in the light of sayings of the Quaid-i-Azam, Insha-Allah we will start again next time for transforming Pakistan into a welfare state from where we had left.
