Lahore: Jamiat e Ittehad Ul Ulema president and former MNA Maulana Abdul Ma’lik, has strongly condemned the Punjab government order banning the slaughtering of females of the Halal animals and termed it repugnant to the injunctions of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah.
In a statement here on Wednesday, he said that the slaughtering of cows, sheep and buffaloes and other female Halal animals had been going on for the last fourteen hundred years but their shortage was never felt anywhere. Therefore, the ruler’s decision simply reflected imprudence and lack of understanding.
Maulana Abdul Ma’lik said that these animals were among the signs of Allah and it was the blessing of Halal that the shortage of these animals was never felt in the country. He said that millions of these cattle were slaughtered in villages, towns and cities every day. Besides, every year, million others were brought to the markets and were slaughtered on the occasion of the Eidul Azha but there was no shortage of these. On the other hand, large number of these cattle had to be taken back home.
He demanded the withdrawal of the decision as it could invite Allah’s wrath.
