SDC to provide free training to beauticians to improve their professional skills

IWCCI 003Lahore: Chairman Skill Development Council (SDC) Mian Akram Farid on Tuesday said beauticians of twin cities will undergone training in various fields which will enhance their quality of work and improve businesses.

SDC will provide free training to beauticians to improve their professional skills and make it more attractive for many unemployed women.

Mian Akram Farid who is also Vice President FPCCI said this while speaking at a meeting organised by Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI).

Founder President IWCCI Samina Fazil, Chairman Coordination FPCCI Malik Sohail and others were also present on the occasion.

Mian Akram Farid said that the training would go a long way to reduce the unemployment rate and enable many young girls to acquire entrepreneurial skills to earn a good living. Some wayside beauticians were tarnishing the image of the profession by using substandard chemicals playing havoc to the public.

He said that he would raise the issue of taxes imposed on beauticians which was affecting their businesses as they find it difficult to compete with the non-filers who reduce their charges to attract more customers.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik Sohail appealed to the government to streamline the profession and check fake as well as substandard beauty products to bring sanity into the industry. Inflow of fake hair products into the market should be tackled immediately, he demanded.

Samina Fazil said that observed that lack of infrastructure in technical and vocational institutions for cosmetology did not provide the room to attract people and demanded for more attention to be paid to such sectors to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.Women are kept vulnerable retarding economic progress of the nation, she said, adding that good communication skills are imperative to keep customers loyal.

Beauticians expressed gratitude to the SDC and FPCCI for helping to upgrade their knowledge and skills and assured that the knowledge acquired would be utilized to better the future of the profession.
