Lahore: A delegation led by Vice President of Chinese Peoples Association for Peace and Disarmament, He Jun met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. Matters regarding promotion of Pak-China relations and increase in cooperation in various sectors were discussed in the meeting.
Talking to the Chinese delegation, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan and China are bound together in strong relations of friendship and China has stood by Pakistan in every hour of need. He said that people of Pakistan are proud of their friendship with China. He said that the project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a valuable gift by China for Pakistan. He said that the investment package of 46 billion dollars given by China is unprecedented in the history and out of this package 33 billion dollars are for energy projects.
He said that with the cooperation of China, work is being carried speedily on 1320 megawatt coal-based power project in Sahiwal and a 100 megawatt solar project in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur has been completed in a record period. He said that work is also being carried out expeditiously on other projects of solar energy.
Shahbaz Sharif said that energy crisis has seriously affected Pakistan’s economy and other sectors and China has helped Pakistan at this difficult time. He said that Pakistan will be able to overcome energy crisis with the cooperation of China.
He said that energy and other development projects are being set up throughout Pakistan with the investment package of billions of dollars given by China which will benefit the whole region. He said that people of Pakistan and future generations will never forget this great favour of China.
Shahbaz Sharif said that our friends are happy with CPEC projects while the enemy is angry. He said that those who are unhappy with CPEC project are wasting their time. He said that Pakistan and China are furthering CPEC project speedily and the enemy will not be allowed to create hurdles in CPEC projects. He said that friends and enemies of Pakistan and China are common.
The Chief Minister further said that there should be maximum exchange of delegations between China and Pakistan in trade, culture, education and other sectors. He said that there should more contacts between Pakistan Muslim League-N and Communist Party of China so that relations at party level could be strengthened. Vice President Chinese Peoples Association for Peace and Disarmament He Jun said that China attaches high importance to its relations with Pakistan.
He said that those who are angry over CPEC projects do not want to see relations between the two countries strengthen but they will be disappointed. He Jun further said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken practical measures in the real sense for the welfare of the people and due to leadership qualities of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab province will become prosperous very soon.
Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Col.(R) Shuja Khanzada, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, concerned senior authorities, Chinese Consul General Yu Boren and other members of the delegation were also present on the occasion.
