Lahore: Office-bearers of Pakistan Dental Association, including Vice president Punjab Zone, Dr. Arham Chauhan and members Central Council, Dr. Sabzwari and Dr. Hafiz Shakir Mehmood, had a meeting with the Chief Operating Officer Punjab Healthcare Commission, Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan and the senior management of PHC.
Issues of mutual concern with regard to the registration and licensing of healthcare establishments (HCEs) by the PHC were discussed during the meeting and the parties unanimously agreed that the Pakistan Dental Association will reach out to its members throughout Punjab via telephone calls and sms, website,twitter and Facebook messages to prevail upon them fulfil their legal obligations under the PHC Act, 2010, and register with the PHC in order to obtain a license.
It was also decided that as Registration with the PHC being the obvious criterion for distinguishing qualified healthcare service providers from quacks, members of the Pakistan Dental Association would also support the ongoing campaign against quackery by ensuring their registration.
Provincial office-bearers of the of the Pakistan Dental Association will also urge members to extend all possible cooperation to the PHC in the implementation of the PHC laws, rules and regulations. During the meeting it was also decided that Punjab Healthcare Commission and the Pakistan Dental Association will jointly conduct seminars in all cities of Punjab for the advocacy of the PHC’s regulatory mandate and to apprise the general public about the ongoing campaign against quackery.
