Dr Naeem Khan appointed Dean of Life Sciences

Lahore : Punjab University’s Professor of Zoology and former Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan has been appointed Dean Faculty of Life Sciences by Governor / Chancellor University of the Punjab.

According to the notification issued by the Punjab Higher Education Department, the Governor on the advice of the Chief Minister appointed Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan as Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences on regular basis for three years or till the age of superannuation.

A 2015 European Commission Erasmus Mundus post-doc scholar designate for the University of Zagreb, Croatia, Dr. Naeem Khan has versatile 30 years of research & teaching, R&D, academic development and university administration and higher education management experience as Dean of Faculty (UVAS, 2003-2004), Registrar (PU, 2005-2010), Chairman of two teaching Departments (UVAS, 2003-2004) and Director, Department of Fisheries, Government of the Punjab (1986-2003). Dr. Khan represented Pakistan in UN / FAO conference in Rome, Italy in January 2015, where hisresearch paper entitled “Decline in Freshwater Natural Resources and future of Inland Fisheries & Aquaculture: Threatened Livelihood and Food Security in Indus Valley, Pakistan” was awarded Financial Assistance Award for 2015.

In 2014 he was awarded Nor-Fishing Foundation Award for Norway, American Fisheries Society Award for Mexico, World Aquaculture Society (WAS) Award for Australia. A PhD from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada in 1996, he is recipient of Gold Medal in M.Sc. Zoology from Punjab University in 1983.  He qualified CSS Examinations in 1987 & 1988 and PCS Examinations in 1988 and also holds a law degree from Punjab University.

A Post Doctorate from Pacific National, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada also, he is recipient of thirty (30) Distinctions, Honors & Academic Achievements, including five (5) Gold Medals/Awards, author of forty seven (47) internationally published and forty nine (49) nationally published research papers. He has attended thirty (30) international conferences overseas and has supervised the research of two (2) PhD and many graduate students.

He has been Member & Secretary of various prestigious university bodies and statutory organs like university Senate, Syndicate, Selection Board, Academic Council, Finance & Planning Committee, Advanced Studies & Research Board, Affiliation Committee, Boards of Faculties and Board of Studies etc.
