Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has evacuated 17, 647 flood affectees from flood-prone districts of Punjab on Sunday; out of which some 7385 persons have been evacuated from different flood vulnerable areas of Rahim Yar Khan and 7022 persons from Layyah District.
The major rescue operations were conducted in Layyah; Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, DG Khan and Rajanpur Districts of the Punjab on Sunday. According to the details provided by the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122 Rahim Yar Khan Emergency Services have evacuated 7385 persons; Rescue 1122 Layyah 7022, Rescue 1122 Mianwali 600; DG Khan 331, Muzaffargarh Emergency Services evacuated 1308, Narowal 08, Rajanpur 975 and Rawalpindi 18.
The details further show that 3930 flood-affectees were evacuated from Chachran Sharif; 2692 from Mouza Chuhan, 439 from Bohang and 324 from Abadpur in Rahim Yar Khan District; some 4262 from Sumra Nashaib; 473 from Lohanch Nashaib, 312 from Dewan Chowk, 130 from Mouza Bakhri Ahmed Khan, 128 from Basti Gurmani, 20 from Mongar, 188 from Mouza Shahwala, 494 from Wara Sehr, 451 from Basti Jakhar, 122 from Maqsood Chowk; 310 from Basti Kanjal; 68 from Chandianwala Pattan, 36 Kakh Chowk, and 28 from Baith Kaai in Layyah District.
Similarly, 187 people have been evacuated from Due Chowk, Tehsil Taunsa Sharif, 125 from Jakhar Imam Shah, seven from Basti Ghalli Taunsa Sharif, 12 from Jhok Uttra in DG Khan, 216 from Tari Khel Kacha; 189 from Mouch Kacha and 195 from Rokharri Kacha in Mianwali District. Out of total 1308 flood-affectees of Muzaffargarh; 356 were evacuated from Kundai, 258 from Bangla Hinjra, 149 from Left Marginal Band; 542 from Sarki Band and three from Rind Adda. The PMC further informed that 503 persons were evacuated Nishter Ghat, Indus River, 40 from Bhagsar, Rojhan, 136 from Bait Sontra, 144 from Rojhan Garh, 102 from Talliwala Bandro, 50 from Wang in Rajanpur District. The details show that eight were evacuated from Narowal and 18 from Rawalpindi districts.
The Rescue 1122 spokesman Jam Sajjad Hussain said that Rescue 1122’s Water Rescue Teams are on high alert and flood evacuation/ rescue operation shall continue till the flood season is over. He said that a Disaster Response Force is standby at Emergency Services Academy, which can be send within an hour as backup support to the district where inundation may occur; however, medium level Disaster Response Forces are participating in on-going flood evacuation operation in flood-hit districts
