Lahore: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over a meeting of departmental heads to review process of MPhil/PhD admissions of 2015-16 and number of the students enrolled in these programmes in the university.
Dr Mujahid Kamran said that the MPhil and PhD Programme was an important part of a university’s research work as well as university ranking globally, so admissions in both these programme should be done transparently while keeping in mind the requirements of Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Punjab University.
The meeting also reviewed statistics of students enrolled in MPhil/PhD programmes in PU, while according to 2014 statistics this number is 5,238 and would increase further after fresh admissions. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that departments’ heads must have knowledge about their students so that they could plan well and contribute in research promotion of their respected disciplines.
Registrar Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Acting Chairperson of Doctoral Programme Coordination Committee Prof Dr Anjum Naseem Sabri, deans of faculties and heads of teaching departments were present there.
