Punjab Government distributes Eidee among the deservings

pak-rupeeLahore: Provincial Minister for Zakat & Usher Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that more than 3 billion rupees have been given to more than five lakh deserving people in the head of subsistence allowance, provision of facilities of public health, educational and religious scholars, Ramazan, Eid and marriage grant. He said that due to arrival of Ramazan ul Mubarak twice in 2014-15, the department has issued Ramazan and Eid grant to more than one lakh people twice. He appealed to philanthropists people to put their share in this noble cause and supplement the government efforts for the welfare of deserving persons.

He said this while talking to media men. The Minister said that all payments have been made through mobile phone service on quarterly basis by organizing the department on modern lines due to which the payments have been made to the deserving people nearest to their home in a transparent and honorable manner. He said that Rs. one thousand per month subsistence allowance has been given to more than one lakh widows, disabled, blind and elderly people.

Malik Nadeem Kamran said that an amount of Rs. eight crore has been provided to more than 20 thousand deserving male and female students through scholarship committees set up in educational institutions. He said that more than one billion rupees have been provided for the promotion of vocational education through which more than 32 thousand deserving male and female students have been provided modern vocational training in vocational training institutes so that they could earn livelihood honorably.

The Provincial Minister said that marriage grant has been increased 100 percent from 10 thousand rupees to 20 thousand rupees due to which four thousand families have benefited. He said that 31 crore rupees had been allocated for free treatment of deserving people in government and specific private hospitals and more than one lakh deserving people benefited from it.

Nadeem Kamran said that the money upto Rs. two lakh is being provided by the department to the male and female students who got vocational training for starting their own business under Khadim-e-Punjab Self Employment Scheme. He said that the distribution of Zakat fund is carried out in a highly transparent manner in consultation with renowned Ulema and the complete record of deserving people has been computerized. He said that the department has established its own website for obtaining attention of deserving and well-to-do people where necessary information has been provided about all rules and regulation relating to zakat.
