Lahore: The Pakistan Ex-servicemen Association (PESA) on Saturday said the meeting between Prime Ministers of Pakistan and India on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Ufa appears to be a great let down for Pakistan. Instead of building on outright support of China to Pakistan, our Prime Minister seems satisfied with mere photo session, it said.
A statement issued here today said that beyond general statement on control of terrorism in South Asia, Indian Prime Minister succeeded in including a strong reference to Mumbai issue. On the other hand, our Prime Minister failed to make a reference to the massacre going on in Kashmir, Samjhota Express tragedy and much talked about involvement of RAW in Balochistan and Karachi etc.
According to Indian media, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have touched his finest hour as statesman. The Joint Statement is being considered as a victory that could help him in the forthcoming elections in the States of Bihar, West Bengal and UP, Pesa said. The outcome of this ill planned meeting clearly shows gross weakness of our Foreign Office to manage and exploit such important diplomatic opportunities to explain issues facing Pakistan, instead of taking these visits merely as joyride.
The meeting was not a great breakthrough and it was not beneficial for Pakistan.
