A campaign is continuing against profiteers, hoarders

DCO Lahore..Lahore: A campaign is continuing against profiteers, hoarders and those involved in short weighing. 1525 Price Control Magistrates raided 9404 shops and markets and 1546 shopkeepers and traders were found involved in hoarding and other illegal steps.

As many as 216 cases were registered against shopkeepers and traders while 232 persons were arrested and a fine of more than 15 lakh, two thousand and 400 rupees was also imposed. Raids were conducted at 2015 places for checking weights and measures and action was taken against 218 shopkeepers and traders.

On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister, 514872 kg sugar was provided at subsidized rate of Rs. 52 per kg. 96684 flour bags of 10 kg each at Rs. 310 per bag were sold while 8718 flour bags of 10 kg each at Rs. 330 per bag and 100032 flour bag of 20 kg each at Rs. 660 per bag were provided in open market.

158512 kg chicken was sold at Rs. 230 per kg in Ramazan bazaars. Iftari was provided to 176761 citizens at 1791 Madni dasterkhawans with the collaboration of government and philanthropists throughout the province.
