Lahore: Former Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal passed away.
A senior level Saudi information ministry official on Thursday said that Prince Saud had passed away and that an official statement would be published soon.
Prince Saud, who was appointed in 1975, was the world’s longest serving foreign minister when he was replaced on April 29 by Adel al-Jubeir, the then ambassador to Washington.
Prince Saud served under four Saudi kings, advancing the Kingdom’s foreign policy, especially after the attacks of September 11, 2001 in the United States.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif,Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif ,President PML-Q Ch Shujaat Hussain,former deputy prime minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi,Ameer Jamat-tud- Dawa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed have expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the sad demise of Saud Al-Faisal, former Saudi Foreign Minister.
In a condolence message, they said that with the death of Saud Al-Faisal, both the counties have been deprived of a great leader. They said that the services of Saud Al-Faisal for Saudi Foreign Ministry for long period will be remembered forever.
