CM constitutes a committee to oversee and monitor the purchase of equipments

Neuro Surgeon, Prof. Dr. Khalid MehmoodLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has constituted a special committee headed by Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute & LGH Prof. Khalid Mahmood to oversee and monitor the purchase of equipments and machinery and completion of the subject schemes during financial year 2015-16 while observing all rules and regulations along with procedural formalities. Prof. Khalid Mahmood has called first meeting of the special committee on July, 13.

The Special Committee would comprise on one representative each from the Planning and Development Board and Finance Department, a procedural specialist from Health Department, Consultant of the project, Deputy Secretary Technical Health Department, Chief Engineer Buildings C&W Department and any other member to be opted by the chair. The committee will ensure completion of on-going and new schemes of annual development program relating to PGMI/LGH Lahore including major scheme titled “Establishment of Punjab Institute of Neuro-Sciences Phase-2 during current financial year. The committee will be authorized to hire financial and technical consultants for the project to ensure highest standards of work with regard to quality, financial management, procurement of requisite equipments and machinery.

Chief Minister has also directed Health Department to appoint an independent third party committee consisting of reputable chartered accountant, management consultant, distinguished doctor, engineer and a nominee of Health Department to carry out external audit of Special Committee especially with regard to financial performance and management audit on regular basis. This committee would be headed by a non-official member. The working of the special committee and independent third party committee would be monitored on monthly basis by Secretary Health and Secretary C&W in order to ensure that the procurements are made expeditiously without violation of relevant rules and procedures.  The special committee would submit its progress report to the Chief Minister on regular basis.
