Italian Ambassador Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani calls on Punjab Chief Minister

Lahore: Italian Ambassador in Pakistan Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here today. Matters of mutual interest, promotion of cooperation in different sectors including energy and strengthening of bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting.

Talking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that there are strong friendly relations between Pakistan and Italy. He said that it is essential to further promote relations between the two countries and maximum trade delegations should be exchanged between Pakistan and Italy.

The Chief Minister said that Italy has special expertise in generating energy from solar power and other alternative resources. He said that cooperation of Italy will be welcomed in energy sector. He said that the supply of electricity is continuing through 100 megawatt solar power project which was completed by Punjab government with its own resources at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur.

He said that work on first solar power project has been started in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Bahawalpur under China Pakistan Economic Corridor and solar project of 50 megawatt will start producing electricity from August 14 this year. He said that solar project of 300 megawatt will start generating electricity by the end of current year whereas remaining solar projects of 600 megawatt will be completed next year.

He said that energy projects will be completed with the cooperation of friendly countries and darkness will be removed from the country. Italian Ambassador said that Italy has expertise in waste to energy and solar energy and wants to cooperate with Punjab in energy sector. Italian Ambassador congratulated the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on completion of splendid project of metro bus in a record period of time.
