Lahore: A campaign is continuing against profiteering and hoarding. 1525 Price Control Magistrates raided 9784 places and took action against 1614 shopkeepers on profiteering and hoarding. 261 cases were registered while 302 persons were arrested.
A fine of 15 lakh, 77 thousand and 800 rupees was imposed due to profiteering, hoarding and other illegal steps throughout the province. More fine was imposed in Lahore division and one lakh, 56 thousand and 200 rupees were recovered whereas a fine of 61 thousand rupees was imposed in district DG Khan.
One lakh, 17 thousand and 955 flour bags of 10 kg each were sold at subsidized rates of Rs. 310 per bag in Ramazan bazaars whereas in open market 9413 flour bags of 10 kg each and one lakh, six thousand and 765 flour bags of 20 kg each were provided at subsidized rate in open market.
2202 raids were conducted for checking weight and measures in the province and legal action was taken against 275 persons due to short measuring. Iftari was provided to one lakh, 68 thousand and 820 persons at 1763 dasterkhawans with the collaboration of government and philanthropists throughout the province.
