Lahore: Eminent Novelist Abdullah Hussain has passed away at the age of 84 years.Inna Lillahe wa inna elehe rajeune. His funeral would be offered At his residence Y-Block DHA,Lahore at3 PM.Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif,MQM Quid Altaf Hussain have condoled the death of Abdullah Hussain.
Abdullah Hussain have been nominated for “Kamal-e-Fun” award for 2012. “Kamal-e-Fun” is the highest literary award of Pakistan, given for lifetime achievement in creative and research work that carries cash prize of Rs500,000. His novel “Udas Naslain” became widely popular both in Urdu & English languages.“Udaas Naslain” and “Nadar Loag”, the two popular and well-respected novels are considered as masterpieces.
He grew up in a middle class family. His father was a government servant and served as an excise inspector. Abdullah was born when his father was 52 years old. he was four when his father retired and died at the age of 72. He was the youngest of four siblings. He has three older sisters. He belonged to a Gujrat. His family was a professional family most of them were government servants. There were no business people. Most of them had 25-50 acres of land on an average.
His mother died when he was only six months old.oldest sister who was at that time 17 years old brought him up.Rafi Peerzada was his close relative who produced 30 to 40 Urdu and Punjabi plays for radio. His Punjabi play Akhian became very famous. His daughter Samina Peerzada is quite well known in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the death of renowned Urdu writer and novelist Abdullah Hussain, who passed away in Lahore this morning.
The prime minister extended his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family. He lauded the services rendered by him (Abdullah Hussain) for the promotion of Urdu language and literature.
The prime minister described his death as a loss to the nation, especially the literary circles, according to a statement issued by the PM House. Nawaz Sharif prayed that Allah Almighty may rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant patience to the family to bear this loss.
