Lahore: Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that government has set up Ramazan bazaars throughout the province for providing flour, ghee, sugar, vegetables and other essential items at cheaper rates to the people during Ramazan-ul-Mubarik.
He warned that no one will be allowed profiteering and elected representatives and district administration will visit Ramazan bazaars for providing fruits of Ramazan package to the people. He said that as a result of a subsidy of Rs.3.5 billion, 10kg flour bag will be available at Rs.310 while sugar at Rs.52 per kg besides other quality food items in Ramazan bazaars at control rates.
He expressed these views while visiting Ramazan bazaar Barkat Market New Garden Town, TMO and other government officials were present on the occasion. The Provincial Minister directed Town administration to ensure continuous provision of quality essential items in Ramazan bazaar.
Corporation have also been set up in Ramazan bazaars. He said that quality vegetables and fruits will be available at fair price shops of Agriculture Department. He vowed that strict action will be taken against those creating artificial shortage and price hike. The Provincial Minister said that all DCOs were personally supervising the auctioning of items in markets. He warned that hoarding will not be tolerated. He checked prices and quality of items in Ramazan bazaar and also inquired from the people about the availability of items.
