Lahore: Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has empowered newly established Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission (POPC) by developing its active website with an effective complaint lodging mechanism and a helpline working round the clock. It was stated by the PITB Chairman Dr. Umar Saif while addressing a meeting held in his office on Tuesday.
Dr. Saif said that the vibrant website of the POPC (http://opc.punjab.gov.pk) had provided basic information about the commission and its fuctions, facility to lodge online complaints and a link to download application forms of useful documents such as Arm License, Registration of Death Late Entry, Registration of Birth Late Entry, Drug Sale License and Procedure and Rules for Drug Sales License.
He said “Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif established POPC in order to overcome huge problems being faced by Overseas Pakistanis since long such as illegal occupations on their land property, property disputes with housing societies and real state dealers, family disputes, disputes with travel agents and agencies, abductions for ransom, criminal cases and security issues etc.
The PITB has devised an online complaint portal through which all complaints relating to the provincial government departments are transmitted to the concerned departments or offices and would be followed up by the Commission. For a dynamic follow-up, regular progress reports would be submitted to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary Punjab. Moreover, the Commissioner is authorized to refer any complaint to the Punjab Ombudsman for necessary investigation and action thereon”.
Dr. Saif said that the 24/7 Helpline (+92-42-111-672-672) might also be used to lodge a complaint. He requested the overseas Pakistanis to visit the website and submit their online suggestions to improve and make the website an effective tool to address all their problems speedily.
