Lahore: Chairman Punjab IT Board Dr. Umar Saif lauded the successful application of Hajj Management Information System developed for the Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs by the IT experts of PITB.
He awarded prizes and shields to the team headed by the Joint Director (e-Governance) Ms. Saima R. Sheikh in a splendid ceremony held at Arfa IT Tower last day. Director General (e-Governance) Sajid Latif, Joint Director (HR) Ch. Maqsood and a large number of PITB employees were also present.
Dr. Umar Saif said “first time in the country’s history, a gigantic task of registration, balloting and intimation to the applicants of Hajj was made hassle free and transparent. While during last few years, the process created a lot of mess for both government and the applicants. It was all due to the blessings of technology used skillfully by the PITB team in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and designated Banks.
Earlier, people know what happened with the Hajis here in Pakistan and in Saudi Arabia?. Technology has further facilitated the pilgrims with active helplines separately working here as well as in KSA. The pilgrims can use these helplines both through cellular phone and internet to know about their flight schedule, location of residence or lost luggage or companions,” he added.
At this occasion, computerized balloting was also made for the lower scale employees financed by the PITB to perform Hajj this year. Dr. Umar Saif congratulated the lucky employees whose names were selected by transparent balloting.
