Lahore: A meeting of Cabinet Committee on price control was held at Civil Secretariat to review the situation of Ramazan bazaars.
The cabinet committee through video link got information from divisional Commissioners and DCOs about Ramazan bazaars.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal directed all commissioners and DCOs to ensure abundance supply of food items in Ramazan bazaars and said that there should not be any complaint of their shortage.
Chief Secretary directed that besides prices, quality of food items should also be monitored. The Chief Secretary also ordered special arrangements for the women, disabled persons and elderly citizens visiting Ramazan bazaars.
Chief Secretary further said that all measures should be taken for ensuring benefit of Ramazan package to citizens and added that no laxity will be tolerated in this regard. He said that government machinery should spare no effort for the provision of quality essential items to the citizens at cheaper rate.
He said that availability of quality essential items to the masses in open markets should also be ensured and action be taken against hoarders and profiteers.
Chief Secretary directed that DCOs should personally supervise auctioning process in markets and submit a report.
The Cabinet Committee appreciated the performance of commissioners of Faisalabad and Sargodha regarding timely action against hoarders and bringing stocks of grams and pulses into the market.
Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin, Minister for Industries Ch. Shafique and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
