Lahore: Chief Relief Commissioner Punjab / Senior Member Board of Revenue Nadeem Ashraf has said that all rivers of the province will be monitored through satellite of SUPARCO.
He said that modern software has been developed in this regard through which information will also be obtained regarding flow of water and its impact on the surrounding areas.
He said that duties have been assigned to representatives of SUPARCO and other software engineers in PDMA Punjab who will receive update information of flow of water in rivers and nullahs. Information will also be received regarding rains through satellite before time so that planning could be made regarding relief in future, he added.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding flood at committee room of PDMA today. DG PDMA Jawad Akram, Director Ali Annan, Director Operation Muhammad Sajjad and officers of concerned departments were present on the occasion.
Nadeem Ashraf said that district administration of the whole province has been bound to immediately eliminate qabza mafia and illegal encroachments from the banks of water courses and do not show leniency in this regard. He said that all departments should made prior preparations and inform the department so that no negligence could come fore during checking.
He said that officers showing any negligence or laxity will not be tolerated. He said that flood center set up at PDMA and Lahore Flood Warning Centre has been made operational from June 15 where officers of all departments will provide up to date information and awareness to the people under one roof. He said that PDMA has been up-dated according to the present day needs.
