Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi have reiterated their full support to Pak Army and said that no reduction in honour and prestige of the army will be tolerated. Local bodies elections should be fair, anti-farmers policies should be ended and instead they should be provided maximum incentives and facilities.
They said this while addressing meeting of central and provincial party leaders held here today.
In his presidential address, Ch Shujat Hussain said that affairs cannot go like this in the prevailing situation, Pak army is the defender of ideological and geographical frontiers, our political leadership should have responded to India, army has to do works of politicians.
He said after holy month of fasting, Ramzanul Mubarik, PML will be visible as an active party in every district, PML is a major political force, according to report of Election Commission PML was at number 5 votes wise out of 23 parties in general election 2013, Muslim Leagues must be unified for which contacts are in progress.
Ch Parvez Elahi in his address said that we are in contact with other political parties regarding local body’s election.
He said one year has elapsed after Model Town tragedy but the murderers have not been arrested, PML has kept this issue alive.
He emphatically stated that our party supports armed forces of Pakistan as a matter of principle, we want to see a strong Pakistan.
Various resolutions including one demanding holding of local body’s election in Punjab on one day under supervision of the army were adopted in the meeting.
A resolution, moved by MPA Aamir Sultan Cheema, said that this is essential for meeting the requirements of transparency and justice. The meeting strongly opposed holding of local polls on different days in different division describing it as an arrangement for rigging by the govt.
Resolution moved by Sardar Talib Nakkai paid glowing tributes to the Pak Army on the completion of operation Zarb-i-Azb and said that great sacrifices offered by the army has protected the country, the army will not rest till the campaign against terrorism reaches its logical conclusion.
Expressing full solidarity with Pak army, the meeting said that respect and prestige of Pak army must be safeguarded because it protects ideological and geographical frontiers of the country, sacrifices of precious lives offered by officers and jawans of our armed forces are much more than sacrifices offered by people belonging to any other sector, the army has always protected the motherland with its blood and is still engaged against the enemies on internal and external fronts.
Another resolution moved by Mian Imran Masood said that there has been considerable reduction in incidents of terrorism, target killing and forcible extraction in Karachi due to efforts and sacrifices of the Rangers. Expressing with Pak army and Rangers, the meeting endorsed the struggle of the Rangers for enforcement of law and elimination of corruption from the roots and demanded that the Rangers should play its full role for enforcement of law and elimination of terrorism, forcible extraction and corruption.
The meeting also demanded that the govt should end anti-farmers policies because farmers are in miserable condition and greatly disappointed. Strongly condemning the govt institutions and police oppression and violence to curb peaceful meetings and processions of the farmers, the meeting demanded that the farmers should be provided fertilizer, electricity and water at cheap rates, crops procurement be done govt level and farmers be saved from economic misery.
