Social Welfare Department will start a number of projects to make women skillful:Syed Haroon Ahmed Sultan Bukhari

Minister Social WelfareLahore: Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait ul Maal Syed Haroon Ahmed Sultan Bukhari has said that Social Welfare Department will start a number of projects for women at a cost of Rs. 806.808 million in new financial year 2015-16 so that they could become skillful and earn livelihood for their family. He said that after 18th amendment, arrangements of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Centre for women has become under the scope of provincial government and this centre will be made operational soon at a cost of 78 million rupees.

He expressed these views while addressing inaugural function of donors conference at a local hotel arranged by Rehman Foundation. Chairman LTC Kh. Ahmed Hasaan, Chief Coordinator Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah and other guests were present on the occasion.

The Minister said that Qasar-e-Bahbood in Faisalabad is in final stages of completion while shelter home for senior citizens is also being constructed.

He said that shelter homes are being constructed at Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Pakpattan, Multan, Lodharan and Layyah for providing roof to poor resource less women. He said that handicraft schools will be set for women at Badian Road, Kahna in Lahore and Baloki. He told that VAWC has been set up in Multan for reporting violence against women in order to provide justice to them.

He said that boundary walls around of institutions of Social Welfare will be constructed. He said that process of up-gradation of all district and tehsil hospitals is being started.

He said that project of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant and Research Institute will be started in Lahore at a cost of three billion rupees during new fiscal year while medical facilities will be provided to the people of far-flung areas through mobile health unit at a cost of one billion rupees.

He said that financial year 2015-16 will prove to be a milestone in health sector development. He said that government has taken a historic step by increasing budget of health sector from Rs. 121 billion to Rs. 166 billion.
