Lahore: District Administration Chakwal conducted raids and recovered illegal Iranian coaltar in huge quantity. Cases were registered against two construction companies and six accused were arrested. On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, XEN Provincial Highway Ch. Riaz was suspended on showing negligence.
A special raiding team led by AC Chakwal Tasawar Niazi and AC Talagang Tanveer ur Rehman under the supervision of DCO Chakwal Mehmood Javed Bhatti conducted raids and recovered 25 drums of illegal Iranian coaltar from Sarfraz Khattak Construction Company and MNT Associates.
On the instruction of DCO, cases were registered against the accused in police stations Talagang and Chakwal for keeping smuggled Iranian coaltar illegally. Police has taken 25 drums Iranian coaltar, two tractor trollies and other items into possession and arrested six accused whereas raids are being conducted for arresting the owners and other staff of two construction companies.
Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the performance of DCO Chakwal Mehmood Javed Bhatti and district administration for taking action against construction companies using smuggled Iranian coaltar and said that those committing dacoity on the hard earned money of the people will be put behind the bar. He said that no compromise will be made on the high quality and transparency in development projects. He warned that strict action will be taken against those using substandard material in constructional projects.
The Chief Minister said that due to the effective monitoring system of the government, action against those using illegal and substandard material in construction of roads will continue.
