Lahore: National Party (NP) Islamabad on Sunday announced to mark full presence of the party in the forthcoming local government elections in Islamabad.
The decision was made during a meeting of National Party Islamabad’s Cabinet and District Council which was convened to discuss emerging political scenario in the context of local body elections as well as to highlight party stance with regard to announcement of federal budget and other significant political developments.
Presided by Ayub Malik, President National Party Punjab, the meeting was attended by the members of Cabinet and Council members including Raja Jamil, organizer of Rawalpindi division and Rehana Hashmi, Secretary Human Rights Affairs, NP Punjab.
The participants were appraised about the letter of appreciation written by Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo, President National Party regarding for holding successful party convention of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Sidra Saeed, President NP Islamabad presented a comprehensive strategy for local government elections of Islamabad scheduled to be held on 25th July 2015. Abdullah Dayo, General Secretary NP Islamabad, welcomed the decision to field candidates representing middle class and lower middle class and marginalized segments of society like labourers, peasants, women, youth and minorities.
Ayub Malik, while speaking at the occasion said federal budget has been forged by the elite for the elite that contain nothing for poor except promises and assurances.
He termed budget anti-people which contains nothing for social mobility of masses, alleviation of poverty, employment generation, comprehensive health insurance and education.
While expressing their grave concern, the participants condemned the anti-democratic and anti-constitutional statement of ex-ISI chief Lt. Gen (R) Hamid Gul in which he stated that the army should take over and abrogate the constitution.
The participants emphasized that the future of Pakistan and its federation depends upon continuation of democracy and hence, such irresponsible statements must be apprehended at every level.
