Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan participated in ceremony held in connection with 12th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Malik Mairaj Khalid here today.
While addressing the ceremony, the minister said that when someone strives for a goal with resolve and commitment, his affiliation with political parties becomes secondary. He said that Malik Mairaj Khalid’s services for democracy are unforgettable and praise worthy. Thousands of families are getting benefit from education initiatives taken by former Prime Minister, he added.
The minister appreciated Alakhwan College and its affiliated educational institutions. He also congratulated administration for their excellent performance. He said that though the country is facing numerous challenges including unemployment, terrorism and load shedding but every coming day is bringing good news for us. Several countries including China, Turkey, UK, USA and Saudi Arabia have agreed to invest billions of dollars in Pakistan. Zimbabwe Cricket team has visited Pakistan and teams of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have hinted to visit Pakistan in future, he added.
He said that agreement of political parties on Pak-China Economic Corridor Project is success of whole Pakistan.
While addressing the students, the minister advised them to work hard to earn good name for their parents and country. He said that nothing can block the way of determination and commitment.
He said the personality of Mairaj Khalid is role model for those who hail from a humble back ground. He quoted the examples of such students who gave excellent performance despite having no considerable resources. He told that 125 year record of Punjab University for BA examination was broken by a student who used to bake breads at a hotel.
He said personalities like Mairaj Khalid are institutions and we need to follow their footsteps. The minister announced to upgrade computer lab of Akhwan College and to set up institutions of technical education for boys and girls in Barki.
Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Kamran Michael, Coordinator of Chief Minister Punjab, Talha Barki, Zubair Khalid Mairaj, office bearers of Anjuman Akhwan i Islam, teachers and students were also present on the occasion.
