Lahore: Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr. Farrukh Javed has termed the present budget as farmer-friendly. He said that Punjab government has allocated record amount of 144.39 billion rupees for agriculture sector in the budget. He said that a subsidy of five billion rupees has been announced for providing 25 thousand tractors to small farmers on merit. He said that more than one billion rupees has been allocated for providing agricultural implements to the farmers.
The Minister expressed these views while addressing a delegation of farmers today. He said that Potohar region will be converted into olive valley. It will help in saving billion of rupees that were spent on the purchase of olive oil from other countries every year. He said that the program of constructing new roads in villages has been started at a cost of 150 billion rupees for which 52 billion rupees has been allocated in the budget.
He also congratulated Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for his resolve to help the farming community.
