Lahore: PTI Punjab Organizer Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has assailed the provincial budget as farce and demanded to give people some relief from inflation and price hikes. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf completely rejects the budget; he said.
He also criticized the taxation policy of provincial government and said that it was pro-rich and anti-poor. 12 billion-increase in police budget is government’s reward to police officers for their political loyalty and brutality against the masses’ protests. With hundred percent increase in inflation over the past year, he said, that 7.5% raise in salaries of provincial government’s employees is a cruel joke.
In his opinion, the budget documents are no more than hypothetical figures without any realization of plight of the people. The government has ruthlessly ignored the fact that people are committing suicides and selling their children to survive.
He demanded the Punjab Assembly to strike down provincial budget 2015-16. He was talking to a delegation led by PTI minority MPA Shanila Ruth on Friday. This budget is mere jargon and figures are not real, he commented.
The government did not appear serious in improving conditions of schools and hospitals in the province and is not interested in bringing down inflation and unemployment. Punjab police has become habitually brutal as instead of protecting lives it is doing the opposite, he said adding that an elderly person died in police custody in Gawalmandi police stations allegedly due to police torture.
This police force has failed to ensure law and order and in nabbing criminals and yet got the gift money of more than 12 billion PKR.We have a brutal police force and the Government seems to be rewarding this brutality.
