Lahore: Provincial Minister for Tourism Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan has said that first Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival would be a turning point in tourism history of the country.
Participation of delegates from 12 countries including India is a great achievement of Punjab government, he added.
Film festival will help achieve soft image of the homeland and new avenues of tourism would be explored. He said that Samina Baig, the first ever Pakistani woman who scaled Mount Everest will specially participate in the event.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference in connection with Pakistan International Mountain Film Festival to be held from 12 to 14 June 2015 at Alhamra Art Council.
Vice Chairman TDCP Imran Goraya, MPA Tahiya Noon, Commissioner Lahore, DCO Lahore, MD TDCP, DG PHA and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
Minister Tourism said that Pakistan is a heaven for tourists especially in the field of adventure tourism as 12 out of 30 highest peaks are in Pakistan. He said that five hundred films from 80 different countries were received for the festival and 32 among of them have been shortlisted by a committee. The shortlisted films will be shown in this festival.
The festival will be helpful to disseminate the information about tourist sites of Pakistan throughout the world, he added. He said that the beauty of the event is that all federating units will participate in it, which will promote national harmony and unity.
He said that writers, directors, producers, adventurers and experts from round the globe will share their experiences with our youth, which will enhance their professional abilities and confidence.
He said that a photo exhibition titled “Spectacular Pakistan” showing photographs from Pakistani tourism has also been arranged at Alhamra Art Gallery.
