Lahore: In order to provide free and fair justice and comfortable environment to the women community to express their problems in Police Stations without any hesitation about their issues, a large number of lady officers are being recruited in Punjab Police for the purpose. The decision to serve in Punjab Police by a large number of educated women community is an indicator of their rising trust and confidence on the police department. And first time in the history of Punjab police, company, platoon and parade commander were also females of this largest passed out batch.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera, while addressing the first largest 7th passed out batch comprising of 504 lady constables at Police Training College College, Chung, Lahore, today.
Addl: IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Training, Capt. (R) Usman Khattak, Addl: IGP Operations, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl|: IGP PHP Javaid Islam, Addl: IGP Traffic, Rai Altaf Hussain, DIG Headquarters, Farooq Mazhar, DIG Training Saad Akhtar Bharwana, DIG R&D Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, DIG Investigation, Ghulam Rasool Zahid, DIG Establishment Nawaz Warraich, DIG PHP Salman Chaudhry and other senior Police Officers were also present on this occasion.
While delivering his welcome address, Commandant Police Training College, DIG Fayyaz Ahmad Dev stated that among these constables 01 M.Phil, 01 LLB, 38 masters, 237 Bachelors, 193 intermediate and 34 have metric degrees. These constables have been recruited in 2014 through NTS. During 10 months training, two months Elite Combat Course, Computer Training, Weapon Handling, Police Rules, Gender Responsibility, Media Handling and other professional courses were taught. Among these passed out constables 110 belongs to Faisalabad, 108 Lahore, 50 Gujranwala, 40 Sheikhupura, 40 Muzaffargarh, 28 Bahawalpur, 25 Rawalpindi, 25 Sargodha, 20 Rahim Yar Khan, 14 Jhelum, 11 Attock, 10 Mianwali, 07 Rajanpur, 04 D.G Khan, 03 Jhang, 02 Multan, 02 Sialkot, 01 Kasur, 01 Gujrat and 01 from Chakwal district.
Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera expressed the hope that these lady constables will join hands with their male counterparts in a move to defuse the nefarious designs of anti-state elements, terrorists and hardened criminals. While answering to the media quarries about the security of the people, important personalities and the foreign experts, the PPO said that all possible efforts and strategies have been adopted for the security of all these categories.
Earlier, IGP inspected the passing out parade and also witnessed the demonstrations of use of latest weapons and firing by these lady constables. He also announced 5 to 10 thousand cash prizes with meritorious certificates for distinction holders and 2 thousand with CC-I to those who declared best shooters and weapon handlers.
Later, smart and active contingents of lady constables presented salute to the IGP.
