IG Motorways inaugurates the online branch of Driving License Authority at Kamra

pic engLahore: The Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police Muhammad Saleem Bhatti inaugurated the first HTV/PSV Practical Drivers’ Testing Track near Sangjani, Islamabad today.

This track is of international standard where all practical tests would be conducted before issuance of HTVs and PSV driving licneses. The practical tests of public transport drivers would also be conducted at this facility. In this regard a simple and graceful inaugural ceremony was held in which representatives from all Pakistan Transport Associations, Dumper Associations and other heavy transport organizations attended the ceremony. The representatives of transport associations admitted that most of the heavy transport drivers possess bogus licenses and appreciated that such facility where licenses of international standards would be issued is a great service to the nation. This would not only enhance traffic sense but also help in controlling accidents.

At this occasion, the participants were informed that anybody can visit National Highways & Motorway Police website atdla.nhmp.gov.pk and prepare himself for theoretical test. Self assessment can also be done through this which would help in getting driving license.

The Inspector General further informed the participants that such tracks would also be constructed in other major cities. He emphasized that youngsters are our asset, therefore, in order to create road safety awareness amongst the youngsters, road safety Theme Parks will also be established.

Accepting the responsibility, he added that Motorway Police will train the whole nation in safe driving. Later on, the Inspector General inaugurated the online branch of Driving License Authority at Kamra where licenses would be issued under one window operation system. Besides issuance of learners’ licenses, a facility for conducting online tests through cameras has also been made available at this branch. The licenses printed in Islamabad would be sent directly at the addresses through mail. The representatives of all Pakistan transport associations, Karachi Mr. Khalid Khan, Mr. Hanif Khan Marwat representatives of and other organizations attended the ceremony and appreciated the initiative of Motorway Police and assured their full cooperation.
