Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food & Chairman Cabinet Price Control Committee, Bilal Yasin has said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, a vigorous campaign has been started against profiteers before the arrival of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and the elements engaged in overcharging of food items will not be spared.
This was stated by him during surprise visit to Sunday Bazaars in Wahdat Colony, Shadman and Delhi gate. Talking to consumers, the Minister said that government is giving subsidy for provision of essential items to common man in Ramazan bazaars. He said that no shopkeeper will be allowed overcharging and besides imposition of fines, strict punishment will also be awarded to those involved in selling essential commodities at higher than the fixed rates.
The Minister directed TMO Sohail Ahmed in Sunday bazaar Wahdat Colony to set up new tents for the convenience of consumers. Talking to the Minister, citizens at Shadman bazaar said that quality food items are available to them at concessionary rate.
During visit to Delhi gate Sunday bazaar, the Minister ordered immediate suspension of TMO Ravi Town Malik Ibrar and directed DO Monitoring Amin Chopra to hold an inquiry.
He said that stern punishment will be awarded to the profiteers so that the common citizens should benefit from the relief given by the government.
