Punjab government launches e-stamping for eliminating sale & purchase of fake stamp papers

Senior Member Board of RevenueLahore: In order to check fraud and irregularities in property business Punjab government has launched an important project with the cooperation of Punjab Information Technology Board for eliminating sale and purchase of fake stamp papers and their online verification would be possible through mobile phone or internet.

This was disclosed by the speakers while addressing a seminar held for e-stamping, here today. The seminar jointly arranged by Punjab Cooperatives Department, Punjab Information Technology Board and Punjab Board of Revenue.

Secretary Cooperative Babar Hayat Tarar was the chief guest in the seminar whereas Senior Member Board of Revenue Nadeem Ashraf, officers of Cooperative Housing Societies, Revenue Department, DHA and LDA, representatives of media-men and a large number of people attended the seminar.

Secretary Cooperative said that this is an important step of Chief Minister Punjab which will not only improve good governance and transparency but also eliminate the long standing problem of common citizens. He said that in the beginning, the process of verification of stamp paper of one thousand rupees and above will be started in Lahore next week and after successful experience this facility will be provided throughout the province. He said that 32-A challan form will also be available online for depositing stamp paper fee or duty.

Secretary Cooperative said that earlier people have to visit treasury office for verification of stamp paper which was a complicated and non transparent process and there was complaints of frauds and sale and purchase of fake stamp papers. He said that now through this modern technology, services free from stakes will be available speedily.

Senior Member Board of Revenue said that due to this project forgery will be eliminated and government receipts will increase. He said that the short comings of Revenue Department will be removed and people will rid of litigation and disputes arising due to properties. He said that Board of Revenue will extend all possible cooperation for success of this project so that best and transparent services will be provided to the people as per desire of the Chief Minister.
