Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has announced setting up of digital libraries and installing water filtration plants in the offices of Bar Associations of Punjab. He said digital libraries will be set up in all bar associations of Punjab during three years. He said that the sacrifices of lawyers’ community for restoration of independent judiciary will be remembered forever. He said that the role of lawyers is excellent for strengthening democracy and supremacy of law and the constitution. The Chief Minister said that lawyers’ community has to play vanguard role in the provision of justice to the people. He said that Thana and Kutchery culture has to be improved through collective wisdom and efforts for redressing the grievances of common man. He said that lawyers’ community will have to come forward for evolving a coordinated strategy for making the provision of justice easier. He said that the tragic incident of Daska is highly condemnable. He said that Punjab government equally shares the grief of lawyers’ community and bereaved families of deceased lawyers.
He made this announcement while talking to a delegation of High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi led by its President, here today. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the delegation offered fateha for the departed souls of lawyers who died in Daska and prayed for early recovery of injured lawyers.
Talking to the delegation, Shahbaz Sharif said that government has taken immediate and effective action after Daska incident. He said that SHO involved in firing was immediately arrested and case was registered. He said that instructions have been issued for submitting challan of the case in the court within 14 days. He said that the police official should not have taken law in his hand at any cost. He vowed that justice will be ensured in Daska incident at all costs.
The Chief Minister said that we all have to work jointly for eliminating injustices in Thana and Kutchery. He said that lawyers, police, prosecution and Advocate General have to sit together and present practicable recommendations for changing this obsolete system. He said that accountability is essential for check and balance at Thana and Kutchery level. Shahbaz Sharif lamented that common man is not getting cheap and prompt justice. He said that supremacy of merit is being ensured for providing justice to common man.
The Chief Minister while announcing grant for High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi said that the work on setting up of e-libraries and installing water filtration plants will be started immediately. He directed to constitute a committee for sympathetic consideration to other demands of High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi and said that the committee, after considering all demands, will submit its recommendations within 14 days.
Members of delegation of High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi speaking on the occasion said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is working with commitment. He said that the credit of completing Rawalpindi Islamabad Metro Bus Project in a record period goes to Shahbaz Sharif.
The delegation included General Secretary High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi Faisal Butt, Senior Vice President Manzoor Mughal, Joint Secretary Raja Nusrat Janjua, Additional Secretaries Jawad Arsalan, Naureen Kausar Mughal and other office-bearers Raja Zahoor Manzoor, Ejaz Hamdani, Hina Nauman, Aamir Abbas Malik, Ch. Tanveer Ahmed. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Advocate General Punjab, Secretary Law, Secretary Health and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
