LAHORE: Sports Board Punjab’s (SBP) Under-16 girls’ athletics team, with 65 points, dominated the Inter-Provincial Athletics Championship that concluded in Peshawar on Wednesday.
The title of Under-17 Boys Athletics Championship was shared between SBP and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KPK) teams who both grabbed 71 points each.
KPK girls remained runners up with 58 points followed by Sindh who scored 38. Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan managed only seven and five points respectively in the national junior event. Overall, SBP girls athletics team won four gold medal, four silver and a solitary bronze medal during the championship.
In the Boys’ Athletics Championship, Sindh, with 28 points, finished second behind joint winners SBP and KPK. The athletes from Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan had to content with 15 and two points respectively. The Punjab athletes pocketed three gold medals, six silver and two bronze medals in the annual athletics meet.
