Kalabagh Banao Tehrik is a jehad:Shamsul Mulk

Lahore: Former Chief Minister Khyber Pukhtoonkhwah and former Chairman WAPDA Engineer Shamsul Mulk has said that Kalabagh Banao Tehrik was a jehad, we all have to unite again today to save Pakistan, it seemed that pro-India elements were not favour of construction of this dam and truth has been defeated while brighter future of Pakistan was linked with the construction of Kalabagh dam.

He said this while addressing second national seminar on Kalabagh dam held under the auspices of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) in a hotel in Gujranwala today which was participated by large number of elite hailing from all walks of life.

He said that with the construction of Kalabagh dam people would have got electricity at Rs 2 per unit which was Rs 18 per unit today, Sindh would have got 40 lakhs acres feet, Punjab 22 lakhs acres feet, Khyber Pukhtoonkhwah 20 lakhs acres feet and Balochistan 15 lakhs acres of water, this project still could be completed in six years, those opposing this dam were busy in hatching conspiracies to turn Pakistan into Thar.

 He said the people should stop complaining to the rulers of Pakistan as to why they were opposing Kalabagh dam, they were only following the orders of their foreign bosses, such people were not friends but enemies of Pakistan, if all provinces kept facts in view then none will oppose Kalabagh dam, to allay apprehensions and fears of the provinces we have got solution of every problem as such they should not mislead the people for political point scoring.

Shamul Mulk further said that power being generated through gas, oil and coal was very costly but electricity produced through water will be free of cost, if Kalabagh dam and Bhasha dam had been completed then 9500 megawatt of power would have been added to the system price of which would have been cheaper even than electricity produced in China whereas electricity worth 100 million dollars would have also been exported. He said there was no dearth of natural resources in our country, people were unemployed and forced to commit suicides due to Inefficiency of the rulers.

PML Advisor and Convener of Kalabagh Dam Banao Tehrik Rizwan Mumtaz Ali said that after Punjab awareness campaign about Kalabagh dam will also be launched in Balochistan, 95 per cent people of the Punjab have highlighted its importance by voting in favour of Kalabagh dam, it was the mission of PML leaders Ch Shujat Hussain, Ch Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi that the awareness campaign about construction of Kalabagh dam should be spread throughout the country, because of this that 75 lakhs Pakistanis have supported construction of this dam on social media. He said according to the World Bank report Kalabagh dam should have been constructed by 1992 but the World Bank had deviated from its stance because of India.

Seminar was also addressed by Mehr Zafar Iqbal Lak, Asghar Ahmad Koral, Dr Javaid, Sajjad Akbar Kazmi, Farooq Ahmad, Safdar Mahmud Goraya, Ch Zulfiqar Paan, Malik Faraz Awan and Mohtarma Zubeida Ehsan Chaudhry and was also participated by Faran Khan, Zaigham Gondal, Suhail Awan, Shakir Hussain Shah, Bilal Mustafa Sheerazi, Nadeem Murad Sindhu and Irfan Ehsan among others.
