Lahore: The Government College University Lahore Psychology Department is celebrating the Mental Health Week to highlight the latest trends and researches in the field of developmental psychology. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman inaugurated the celebrations which began with a Poster Competition held at GCU Psychology Department. Around 120 students from eight educational institutions took part in the competition and put on display more than hundred posters which highlighted the miseries of people, and effect of different negative trends including unemployment, poverty, gender-violence, injustice, illiteracy and religious prejudice on people’s mental health. The posters were inscribed with interesting and through-provoking headlines.
Speaking on the occasion, GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman appreciated the artwork of the students, saying that artistic expression was best way to create awareness as it usually had a very strong and direct impact on the thinking of people.
Later, the Vice Chancellor gave away prizes and certificates to the winners of the competition. The celebrations for Mental Health Week also include workshop, performing arts festival and peace walk.
