Lahore: Former Governor of Punjab and Senior Member Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muhammad Sarwar expressed his grief over the loss of lives in the ‘Lahore Fire’ incident. He said, “Today, 6 children lost their lives as fire engulfed their homes in Shadbagh, Lahore. This tragic incident paints a stark picture on how emergency services in Pakistan have failed to establish themselves as an effective response mechanism. The Government of Pakistan instead of tabling chronic issues should devise a ‘High-level Inquiry Committee’ to investigate the loopholes penetrating the emergency services.”
The Former Governor along with PTI Punjab President, Ejaz Chaudhary and PTI Lahore President, Abdul Aleem Khan, visited the children’s parents in Shadbagh. While talking to the media, the Former Governor emphasized on creating a technologically advanced emergency service. He stated, “Emergency incidents are not properly addressed in our nation. The government’s administration is incompetent and ineffective in handling emergency issues. The Lahore Inferno that took the lives of six children is enough proof that emergency services are deficient in structure. The current status of emergency services in Pakistan is plagued with academic indiscipline and irresponsibility. Keeping in light the fire tragedy, the director of Rescue 1122, Dr. Rizwan should investigate the incident and take direct action against those responsible for the malfunction.”
In a conclusive statement, the Former Governor said, “The current emergency services in Pakistan should be entirely reformed. In a country where, patients fail to receive timely medical services it is inevitable that people will lose their lives. The government of Pakistan should work towards a constructive emergency mechanism and develop a safer community that ensures life safety and prevention.
