Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has condemned the statement of the PML(N) leader and Federal Information Minister Pervez Rashid about the madrissahs and demanded an explanation from the government on this score.
Talking to the media at Ha’la Press Club in Sindh after the prize distribution ceremony of Jameatul Uloom e Islamia, Ha’la, on Thursday, he said that the views of a leader of the founding party of the country were highly deplorable, even shameful. He said that the Madrissahs were the fountains of religious knowledge and that was why the infidel forces dreaded the madrissahs more than the nuclear bomb.
Senator Sirajul Haq said that if the statement of the Information Minister was the official stance, this was an open war against the madrissahs. If however, this was the personal opinion of the minister, he should seek forgiveness from Allah and resign from his office. He said that certain elements within the government who were mentally slaves of the west were harping on the tunes of the west to please their foreign masters.
The JI chief said that the attempts to curtail the references to the Holy Quran, Jehad and the role of the Islamic heroes in the education curricula in Sindh and the Information Minister’s statement ridiculing the madrissahs were part of the same campaign. However, he said that whoever in the past had picked up a quarrel with the madrissahs, had perished. He urged the Ulema and Khatibs to play their role to foil the enemy designs and to forge unity among the masses to ensure emergence of a honest and dedicated leadership on the political front.
Sirajul Haq said that the JI stood with the people of the Sindh against the forces of exploitation and tyranny. He said if the people voted for the JI, it would bring the corrupt rulers to book and bring back their ill-gotten wealth lying abroad.
The JI chief stressed upon the Election Commission to take notice of the unjust delimitations being made in Sindh prior to the local bodies elections. He said the masses would not accept these delimitations made with the connivance of the feudal lords, the vaderas and the bureaucracy.
Sirajul Haq condemned the Karachi carnage and said that such a big tragedy at a time when the Rangers operation was going on, as a challenge for the government.
JI deputy chiefs Rashid Naseem, JI Sindh chief Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui, also spoke on the occasion.
