Thalassemia awareness programme will be started at district level: Hameeda Waheed

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said thalassemia awareness programme will also be started at district level and philanthropists should also play their role in this regard.

She was addressing a function in connection with World Thalassemia Day at Children Library Complex, here today.

President Thalassemia Society of Pakistan Dr Javeria Manan, Chief Coordinator Abdul Munem Khan, office-bearers, children suffering from thalassemia and their parents were also present.

Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that she was very pleased to meet thalassemia patients and they are more active than normal children and fighting the disease with courage. She assured the children and their parents that despite limited resources, the government is taking effective measures for uplift of health sector. She also appreciated the efforts being made by Thalassemia Society of Pakistan for the welfare and rehabilitation of thalassemia patients.

Dr. Javeria Manan, Abdul Munem Khan threw light on the aims and objectives of the Society. Later the Minister gave away prizes to thalassemia patient children who presented a variety programme in the function.
