3000 Pakistanis are dying daily in Pakistan due to Hepatitis-C :PYPA

Lahore: Pakistan is recognized as one of the countries in the world with the highest prevalence of the Hepatitis-C, Pakistan stands second after Egypt. The prevalence of HCV in Pakistan is at least eight per cent, with much higher figures for certain population pockets.

This translates into an estimated 16 million infected people, of which five million could have serious liver disease and 1.2 million have developed liver cancer. Almost 3000 Pakistanis are dying daily in Pakistan due to unavailability of medicine of Hepatitis-C.

Pakistan is the country where Hepatitis-C has gained epidemic situation and it has already killed millions of Pakistanis and continue to kill millions more.  Two years ago oral treatment of Hepatitis-C has been developed in the world.

A extremely corrupt official Mr. AQ Javed Iqbal of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan’s has delayed registration of Sofosbuvir 400mg tablet for two years and killed thousands of Pakistanis to only get huge bribe. Later Mr. AQ Javed Iqbal gave registration of Sofosbuvir to Ferozesons Laboratories, which is owned by the brother-in-law of one of the strongest minister at rate Rs.2000 per tablet, which is out of reach of 98% Pakistanis.

Not only this Mr. AQ Javed Iqbal in nexus with Usman Anwar Director FIA and Mian Asif Assistant Director FIA illegally pressurized all other pharma companies to not to register Sofosbuvir for the treatment of Hepatitis-C patients at low cost, they illegally started raids by FIA at private persons and lodged FIRs in FIA against doctors and other pharmaceutical companies and arrested a number of highly qualified persons. This was only done to harass doctors and pharmaceutical companies not to treat Hepatitis-C patients at economical price.

Illegal arrest of doctors by using state power i.e. FIA Mr. AQ Javed, Mr. Usman Anwar and Mian Asif got bribe of millions from Ferozesons Laboratories.

Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal and Prof. Dr. Aftab Mohsin (authorities in Hepatitis-C) have conducted very successful clinical trials of another tablet of sofosbuvir namely Sovir price less than 400, the registration of which is delayed by Mr. AQ Javed. Mr. AQ Javed Iqbal is running Pharmaceutical Business in violation of section 18 of DRAP Act 2012 and having huge plaza in Islamabad worth Rs.10 billion, whereas he is officer of BS-18.

We on the behalf of Medical, Pharmaceutical and allied communities strongly condemn the illegal, dishonest and unlawful arrest of most respectful Dr. Haroon Bilal, Assistant Professor, whose life is always devoted for the welfare and treatment of poor patients; although Dr. Haroon is having all the opportunities to live in either USA or Europe, but he preferred to serve humanity in DG Khan.

We muscularly demand from Prime Minister, Chief Justice, Chief Ministers and all high-ups’ to immediately terminate corrupt officials  AQ Javed Iqbal, Usman Anwar and Mian Asif from Government and start criminal proceeding against them to slaughter 3000 Pakistanis daily. We also demand to confiscate all assets belong to these 3 criminals and arrest them.

We also strongly demand from Government of Pakistan to cancel all the licenses to manufacture and sale drugs of Ferozesons Laboratories immediately. We request our Medical Community to stop prescribing drugs of Ferozesons Laboratories, we request all pharmacies to not to sell the medicines of Ferozesons from today.

We also demand damages of Rs.5 billion from Ferozesons, Mr. AQ Javed Iqbal, Mr. Usman Anwar and Mian Asif in favor of Dr. Haroon Bilal.

We also demand from Government of Pakistan to announce award Dr. Haroon Bilal of Sitara-i-Imtiaz to recognize his extraordinary services towards ailing humanity.

Entire Medical, Pharmaceutical and allied communities have started protest against criminals Mr. AQ Javed, Mr. Usman Anwar, Mian Asif and Feroze sons Laboratories from today and it will remain continue.
