Lahore: A 5-member Zimbabwe security delegation consisting of security experts visited Gaddafi Stadium and National Hockey Stadium and observed the security measures on Wednesday. Independent Security Official Khalid Tareen also visited the top sports venues along with the guest delegation.
The delegation which was comprised of Alistair Campbell, Tamara Priveledge Mapfumo, Pachavo Christian, Chiketa Johannes, Marthinus Bernard, visited various parts of National Hockey Stadium and Sports Board Punjab including the Control Room.
Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar briefed the delegation about the functioning of CC TV camera, security gates and walls around the Nishtar Park Sports Complex. The delegation was also shown major features of Punjab Youth Festival through video documentary.
The visiting delegation has expressed complete satisfaction on the security situation in Pakistan. Especially they were quite impressed with the functioning of modern CC TV camera system.
Earlier, Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar welcomed the delegation in National Hockey Stadium. Chief Operating Officer PCB Subhan Ahmed, Director International Cricket PCB Zakir Khan and other leading security officials were also with the guest delegation.
Alistair Douglas Ross Campbell, the head of Zimbabwe security delegation, has showered praise on Sports Board Punjab (SBP) for organizing three editions of Punjab Youth Festival and establishing dozens of Guinness Book World Records during a short span of three years, he was talking to media after inspecting various parts of Sports Board Punjab and National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
Campbell, who holds the office of Managing Director Zimbabwe Cricket Board (ZCB), said it’s commendable performance on the part of SBP to organize three gigantic Punjab Youth Festival events quite successfully. “The successful holding of PYF events reflected the top class leadership qualities of DG SBP and untiring hard work of his team,” he added.
Campbell, who featured in 60 Test matches for Zimbabwe and led his team on 21 occasions, was quite impressed with the modern security facilities at SBP. “SBP is equipped with best security facilities and one of the most advanced CCTV camera systems,” he stated.
To a question about the tour of Zimbabwe team, Campbell said he’s quite satisfied with the security arrangements and he will put up a positive report to ZCB. “As per MoU signed between Zimbabwe Cricket Board and PCB, Pakistan will also make a return tour to Zimbabwe in August,” he described.
Meanwhile, DG SBP Usman Anwar, in his media talk, said Zimbabwe security delegation was more than happy with the security measures taken up by SBP in Nishtar Park Sports Complex. “The upcoming Punjab International Sports Festival (PISF) and tour of Zimbabwe cricket team will be of great significance for the revival of international cricket and other sports events,” he opined.
