Lahore: Accidents and Emergency Department of Jinnah Hospital will be expanded with the financial assistance of Sakeena Nazli Tribute. The estimated cost of construction of new emergency block is about 50 million rupees whereas old graduates of Allama Iqbal Medical College in USA will provide medical equipments worth Rs. 30.5 million for the new block. This extension will accommodate another 120 beds for the patients.
In this connection, a ceremony was held at the Conference Room of Allama Iqbal Medical College, here today. Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh. Salman Rafique, DG Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Principal Prof. Dr. Mahmood Shaukat, MS Zia Ullah, representative of Sakeena Nazli Tribute Mrs. Zainab Qureshi, Patron-in-Chief of Patients Welfare Society Mian Mahboob and member Mian Mushtaq Ahmed and other notables were also present.
Kh. Salman Rafique and representative of the NGO Mrs. Zainab Qureshi signed a memorandum for the construction of new emergency block. Prof. Mahmood Shaukat informed that various developmental projects and welfare works are being carried out in Jinnah Hospital with the collaboration of philanthropists and non-governmental organizations due to which maximum treatment facilities are being provided to the patients. He disclosed that after completion of additional block of emergency department, another 120 beds would be accommodated in Accidents and Emergency Department of Jinnah Hospital.
Prof. Mahmood Shaukat told that old graduates of Allama Iqbal Medical College have promised to provide medical equipments worth Rs.30.5 million for the new block.
Kh. Salman Rafique appreciated the spirit of serving ailing humanity of philanthropists and NGOs by launching development project and other welfare works at Jinnah Hospital said that patients’ welfare is joint responsibility of the government and the society and well-to-do and philanthropists are discharging this religious and national responsibility properly by extending financial cooperation.
