Lahore: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has launched the expansion phase six of its New School Program (NSP) in the province. This expansion phase is launched in two categories; under the individual entrepreneur category, 43 partner schools will be opened by the individual entrepreneurs in 13 selected districts. In another category, NSP has involved six non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to open 182 partner schools in 16 selected districts in order to ensure equal access to quality education.
Managing Director PEF Dr. Aneela Salman stated this while presiding over a departmental meeting at her office today. The meeting was attended by concerned officers of the foundation.
MD PEF expressed the satisfaction that this expansion will open the doors of free quality education to the deserving students in the remote areas to change their quality of life through education. PEF will provide monthly fee as well as textbooks to the students enrolled in these partner schools so that the students’ families living at the fringe of poverty may not be burdened in any way.
She said that PEF will also provide free capacity building facility to school teachers for improving overall teaching standards to ensure child-friendly schooling. This will help to infuse self-confidence in the students, she said.
Earlier, Director (NSP) Maleeha Batool said that New School Program is aimed to allure private sector entrepreneurs to set up schools in distant and remote areas of the province where private schools are scarce or absent altogether.
