Lahore: A 7-member Sports Board Punjab (SBP) inspection team completed the first phase of venue assessment for the upcoming Punjab International Sports Festival (PISF) 2015 scheduled to be held in next month.
The SBP delegation was comprised of Assistant Director Waqas Akbar, Director HR Waseem Ahmed, SBP PRO Abdul Rauf Roofi, Abdul Ghaffar Gujjar, Ch Siddique, Faheem Akhtar and Qasim Bashir. The SBP officials inspected sports venues, checked security situation and gathered other valuable details about the venues in Rawalpindi, Murree, Bhurban and Faisalabad.
SBP PRO Abdul Rauf Roofi, in a statement said that the SBP delegation will also visit other major cities of the province for the mega event in the coming days. “SBP is making top level preparations for the grand festival in which international sports teams from over 40 countries are likely to participate,” he added.
Roofi said that world class facilities and security will be provided to visiting international sports teams. “We are also preparing top class sports venues for the guest teams,” he added.
SBP PRO revealed that International Hill Marathon Race will be organized for the first time in the history of Pakistan during PISF. “The 12-km race will start from GPO Chaowk Murree and will end in Bhurban. Another entertaining event Family Fun Race will be run from GPO Chaowk Murree to Kashmir Point and then conclude at the starting point,” he informed.
