Shahbaz Sharif welcomes The Chinese in Murree

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the visit of Chinese President is a good omen for Pakistani people and we are ready to accord him a warm welcome. He was talking to delegations of heads of Chinese development agencies, investment companies, financial institutions and banks in Murree, today.

The Chief Minister said that Pak-China relations have always been exemplary and touched historic heights in the present tenure of President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif which are unprecedented.
AGREEMENT BETWEEN ICBC AND PUNJAB GOVERNMENT: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Punjab government and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), the largest bank of the world, in Murree, today.

Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest. Chairman ICBC Jiang Jianqing was also present on the occasion. According to the agreement, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China will provide technical cooperation in various sectors including garments, auto assembling, cement, iron and steel, electricity items, agri implements in Punjab whereas the Bank will also provide financial facilities to Punjab government. ICBC will also provide consultative services to Punjab government in foreign investment sector. Welcoming the agreement between Punjab government and ICBC, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that this agreement will play a key role in the promotion of investment to be made with the cooperation of China.  He said, no doubt, new excellent era of Pak-China friendship is going to start.
CHAIRMAN INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL BANK OF CHINA (ICBC) JIANG JIANQING MEETS SHAHBAZ SHARIF: Chairman Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Jiang Jianqing called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Murree, today. Chairman ICBC Jiang Jianqing said that the bank is ready to play the role of financial advisor for investment in Pakistan and not only China but investment will also be brought from other countries. Shahbaz Sharif said that the investment and cooperation of China is highly valued. It may be mentioned that the bank having assets of more than three trillion dollars is the biggest bank of the world.
HEADS OF CHINESE INVESTMENT COMPANIES AND EXPERTS OF ENERGY, INFRASTRUCTURE, TRANSPORT AND OTHER SECTORS CALL ON SHAHBAZ SHARIF: Heads of Chinese big investment companies and experts of energy, infrastructure, transport and other sectors met Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Murree, today. Promotion of cooperation in various sectors including energy and investment was discussed during the meeting. Talking to Chinese investors, Shahbaz Sharif said that the entire world is astonished over the announcement of investment of 46 billion dollars by China in Pakistan. No doubt, there is no example of such extraordinary investment in the history of the country, he added. He said that the historic agreements to be signed during the visit of Chinese President also include 20 billion dollars only for energy sector. He said that after completion of energy projects by the end of 2017, 10400 megawatt more electricity will be generated which will help in overcoming energy crisis. The Chief Minister said that the projects of generating 2500 megawatt electricity are being implemented in Punjab and all projects are being forwarded speedily. He expressed the hope that these projects will start generating electricity by 2017. He said that hydle as well as coal, gas, solar and other alternate sources are being utilized for generating electricity to resolve energy crisis.
EXCHANGE OF DOCUMENTS OF UP-GRADATION OF TRANSMISSION LINE BETWEEN NTDC AND CHINESE COMPANY: In the presence of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, documents of agreement were also signed.
