Punjab University IAGS organizes seminar

1(18-4-15)Lahore: Punjab University Institute of Agricultural Sciences organized a workshop on “Next Generation Gene Sequencing (NGS) and its Applications”.

PU Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan, PU ASA President Prof Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, Director IAGS Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider, Dr Muhammad Saqib from plant biotechnology research group VLS, Murdoch University, Australia, faculty members and a large number of young researchers were present on the occasion.

Speaker of the Workshop Dr Muhammad Saqib highlighted that In the field of life sciences (NGS) is state of art technology which is going to be used in studying  agriculture, plant sciences ,animal sciences and health sciences. The gene sequencing can also be used for betterment of yield, protection and cure, he added.

In his address, Dr Naeem appreciated the efforts of IAGS in the field of agricultural sciences and shed light on the importance of this technology for Pakistan and offer that Punjab University can provide the Platform not only for Pakistani Scientist also for rest of Asia.

Later, Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan and Dr Hassan Mobeen distributed the shields and certificates among the participant.
