Kashmir is vital for Pakistan: PM AJK Ch Abdul Majeed

02(17-04-15)Lahore: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Abdul Majid has said that the solution of Kashmir issue is connected with integrity in Pakistan. He said that the newly-set up Kashmir Cell at Punjab University will bring Indian brutalities in Held Kashmir to the world and announced Rs 2 million grant for the cell to organize conferences.

He was addressing a seminar organized by Punjab University Pakistan Study Centre at Al Raazi Hall on “Kashmir Issue: Past and Future” here on Friday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over the ceremony while MNA and Member Kashmir Committee Nasir Iqbal Bosaal, Former Foreign Secretary Shamshad Ahmad Khan, Quaid-e-Azam University’s Prof Dr Nazir Hussain, Dean Faculty of Arts & Humanities Prof Dr Massarrat Abid, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, PM AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majid said that all the parties in Kashmir were united for their right to self determination and to get independence from illegal Indian possession of the territory. He said that the Indian government hanged Afzal Guru till death to please its nation but our Foreign Office remained silent. He said that Pakistani TV channels treated rickshaw accident as breaking news but were not raising voice against the violations of human rights and Indian cruelties in Held Kashmir. He urged the media to revise its policy on Kashmir. He said that hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris had been killed since the establishment of Pakistan.

He said that Hindus were being settled in Held Kashmir under a conspiracy. He said that India was changing course of rivers to deprive Pakistan of water and electricity. He said that he had cancelled gazzatted holiday of February 5 so that Kashmiri people could express solidarity with the people of Occupied Kashmir in true manner.  He said that unfortunately, Pakistani nation especially young people were unaware of Kashmir issue. He said that Pakistani government and people had made great sacrifices for Kashmir but there was need to improve our Foreign Policy. He said that Pakistan must stand on its own foot to move forward and ensure economic prosperity in the country. He said that Kashmiri people would pay any cost for the integrity of Pakistan because Kashmiris loved Pakistan.

He said that unfortunately, Pakistani nation had been divided into various groups and people must unite for the stability of Pakistan. He said that the AJK government was focusing on education and universities, medical colleges and other academic institutions were being set up. He also stressed the need for students and faculty exchange among the universities of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujahid Kamran declared Kashmir vital for stability of Pakistan. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that PU had set up Kashmir Cell to do academic research on Indian atrocities in Held Kashmir and bring it to the notice of the world. He said that the nations who did not prepare for wars were destroyed and knowledge empowered nations.

Former Foreign Secretary Mr. Shamshad Ahmed Khan also urged for more practical steps for the freedom of Kashmir and unity among the political leadership of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir for building more pressure on Indian leadership. Prof. Dr. Nazir Hussain shed light on the human tragedy being committed in Indian held Kashmir. He also discussed the agonies of the divided families on the both sides of Line of Control. He said that there was no household in Held Kashmir without a martyr in family. He pointed out the highhandedness of India in the Kashmir dispute.

Member Standing Committee on Kashmir MNA Nasir Iqbal Bosaal indicated the efforts made by the government for the solution of dispute. He assured committee’s full support to the Kashmir Cell in conducting research activities on Kashmir.

Highlighting the objectives of the Kashmir Research Cell, Prof. Dr. Massarrat Abid said that the cell would monitor the political, economic and military developments in Indian occupied Kashmir, and also publish studies on various issues relating to Kashmir.

Later, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran presented souvenir to AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majid.
